The Slam: Slammables
New Frontiers
by NineMuses, New York
See hills and valleys, my dear
She said one night
With her aged eyes ablaze
From the light of black magic
As her hands closed around mine
See all that lies unseen
And see it clearly
Clear as mud I said
It’s so hard to see in the dark but
Hush she said
If you cannot see then try to feel
With your feet and your hands
And feel beyond their face
The hills and valleys
In shadow and light
And the hills on her face were
So very clear worn
As they were
By time and relentless winds but
Hush she said you are still looking
Outside you need
To see in so
I squinted and almost glimpsed
The sunlight plains beyond
Her face riddled
With streams of clear water
Cool to the touch before
They faded from sight
And she fell from my hands whispering
Yes, my dear
You can.
I really enjoyed this -- it had a great flow. It was understandable, too. It shouldn't have ended with a period, although other then that I liked the ending a lot... it was a very abrupt stop from the smooth beginning, which just fit right in. Good job.
